SISTER LOVES MANIFESTO
Individuality, Authenticity and Genderless Design
Dare to be different. Sister Loves believes this is how everyone should approach their style. The fashion industry is taking a more considered approach to inclusivity and diversity, moreover there is greater appetite for alternative perspectives on beauty and style. Sister Loves is reflecting this spirit not only in our products, which are are mostly genderless and entirely ageless, but in the way we have developed the brand. Using individuals to model our designs and styling them in unexpected ways, we want to demonstrate how our products can be embraced and interpreted by any wearer who is drawn to them.
Craftsmanship, Process and Production
Sister Loves wants to give you the story behind each product, the history its development and the makers behind it. By highlighting the design process, we want to engender thought around it. When creating a product, there is no detail is too small to consider, from the placement of a zip to the weight of a fabric. We believe that when this process is better understood and appreciated the final article will have more meaning to you.
Provenance has become increasingly important in how a item is valued. Sister Loves has taken time to build relationships with Makers and Artisans. Working closely with them at every stage of production, we intend to champion their skill and craftsmanship. Sister Loves has initiated collaborations with designers and producers, and we intend to provide a platform for Artists and Creatives on our site, in order to highlight and share their work.
Timeless and Season-less Design
Sister Loves believes that good design transcends seasonal trends. There is a disconnect between the rise of fast-fashion in recent years and the growing desire for a wardrobe which has both individuality and longevity. Sister Loves wants to create unique pieces that can accent your existing wardrobe, yet redefine your look.
Sister Loves will create designs in Limited Runs or as Bespoke pieces, so they will remain distinctive and rare items. Our pieces have been designed to be timeless, they are New Heirlooms, items to return to and cherish. Sister Loves wants to celebrate style which is creative, has authorship and that is uniquely yours.
Sustainability, Considered Production and Consumption
The fashion industry has adapted and changed focus in how it delivers the designers vision, and is slowly moving to a more sustainable model. We are all consumers, but we need to think more deeply about how and why we buy most things, including clothes and accessories.
Please consider the resources it takes to produce an item, the effort, expense and waste created. Sister Loves has made efforts to invest in sustainable and fair practices when creating our products. We will continue to work on this and make it a priority as we grow as a brand and as a community.
A shift is needed in the philosophy of fashion and consumerism, if we are going to buy, we must do so better. Sister Loves wants you to invest only in key pieces, to celebrate and preserve them.
FABRICWORKS X SISTER LOVES
To launch Can You Resist, our platform for Bespoke Projects, we have collaborated with social enterprise FabricWorks, commissioning them to make sustainable products for our collection and supporting their work within their community.
"FabricWorks is the training, production and social enterprise arm of Stitches In Time, producing high-quality sustainable clothing and textiles.
We support our local community, providing textile training and development programmes for local unemployed women.”
By designing with FabricWorks, and sharing our expertise, we are helping to grow the skill sets and champion the work of their members.
Together we have developed a Limited Edition Printed Cotton Tote Bag, which will be our sustainable Bag for Life. As part of our giving back policy, we will sell some of these Limited Edition Bags, giving 100% of the profit to FabricWorks, to support them and their commitment to empowering Women.
Can You Resist is the banner for our series of Bespoke Projects, which will showcase Designers and Artists from diverse creative disciplines, and also highlight sustainable practice and innovative creation. Bespoke Projects will grow as a community and marketplace for ‘Thinkers and Makers’ transcending Art, Design, Artisanal Craft, Ceramics, Embroidery, Carving, Metal Work, Textiles and Photography.

THE ART OF THE SCARF
Notable within the last few years of International Fashion Shows, there has been an undercurrent of androgynous and gender-neutral trends permeating the industry. This can especially be seen in accessory design, where unisex pieces are now a mainstay of the fashion landscape.
Scarves, however, have an established history of transcending gendered style. A silk neckerchief can be as easily interpreted as the headscarf of a woman as it can be the cravat of a man. Design houses such as Liberty’s and Hermes have long embraced this, interchanging designs and prints within their male and female collections.
SisterLoves has created a series of luxurious printed scarves, all of which can be worn by both men and women. All our scarves are Made in England and printed on luxury fabrics including Crepe de Chine, Silk Georgette, Silk/Wool blend, and Silk Twill.
Across our five current collections, SisterLoves has translated the original artwork work of Tattoo Artist Vera Kudrina and Design Collective Smallwasfast, reinventing their original imagery into finished scarf designs.
This builds on the tradition of Artist-designed scarves, first popularised by the textile design house Ascher in the late 1940’s and 50’s. Their silk ‘Artists Squares’ featured the works of Andre Derain, Henri Matisse and Pablo Picasso. What at the time was a novel integration of art and fashion, proved to elevate these accessories into collectable items, and indeed works of art themselves.
Throughout The Balloon Collection, The Darwin Collection, The Cities of the World Collection, The Celestial Collection, and The Atlantis Collection, Sister Loves has aimed to create not simply beautiful, versatile scarves, but wearable pieces of art.

VERA KUDRINA X SISTER LOVES
Sister Loves has developed a series of scarf collections featuring the work of London-based tattoo artist and illustrator Vera Kudrina. Taking inspiration from Kurdrina’s bold and unique imagery, Sister Loves has reinterpreted and translated her work into textile, producing a range of beautiful silk and wool scarves.
The Cities of the World Collection showcases the most famous fashion destinations in the world, subverting the idea of a souvenir into a wearable piece or art, which embodies the identity and captures the atmosphere of these cities.
The Balloon Collection draws inspiration from the Industrial Revolution of Victorian England and the inception of aeronautical engineering. Pioneered by a handful of mavericks and explorers, this collection channels their spirit of daring and adventure.
The Darwin Collection features elaborate botanical-style drawings of beetles, moths, dragonflies and other insects, playing with scale and pattern to create beautiful and intriguing motifs.
All of the pieces within these collections are printed and produced in England. Available in a range of sizes, the collection features luxury fabrics including Crepe de Chine, Silk Georgette, Silk and Wool, and Silk Twill.
