Atlantis Scarf Collection The Gods and Goddesses of the Sea
Hand-drawn by Smallwasfast: R. W. Phillips and Giuseppina De Camillo, the collection explores the idea and mythology of Sirens.
Sirens are mythical creatures which were said to call man into the unknown, to change, abandon what he is and become something new.
Fear of Sirens, therefore, is fear of transformation and losing oneself, but also the fear of upsetting the established equilibrium, fear of learning and fear exploring new worlds. To embrace the Siren is to abandon your ideas of what is, and transform yourself.
The Atlantis collection comprises of four designs:
Buoyed Up takes inspiration from the androgynous quality and beauty of Mermen.
Mermaids looks at the flow of water, fishes, coral, seaweed; all intertwined and always moving.
Salty Dog is a graphic representation of worlds below the surface and the life that dwells there.
Song of the Siren refers to the fatal call of sirens and is based on elements of Victorian prints and etchings.
The collection has been Made in England, using luxury fabrics including Crepe de Chine and Silk Twill.
